The current coordinating council has become the 27th in a row. It was attended by the heads and specialists of the technical and commercial services of PJSC MMK and TMK, as well as the Volzhsky and Seversky pipe plants, which are part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company, and the Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET).
The delegation of Magnitka was headed by Sergey Ushakov, Deputy General Director of MMK for Sales. The meeting summarized the results of cooperation between the companies since 2016 and the results of PJSC MMK's participation in LDP projects implemented by TMK. Thus, at the end of 2018, more than half a million tons of flat products produced by the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works were shipped to TMK's pipe enterprises. For 9 months of 2019, the shipment of metal products from Magnitogorsk to TMK enterprises will amount to over 660 thousand tons. MMK's share in the supply of flat products by Pipe Metallurgical Company in January-September will amount to 83.4%. In addition, the meeting of the coordinating council discussed the quality of metal products, the development of new types of rolled metal for TMK's needs, and other issues of developing cooperation.
The pipe industry is one of the key segments of MMK's presence on the domestic market. It accounts for more than a quarter of all Russian sales of the plant. Magnitka firmly maintains its position as the largest supplier of rolled stock for the production of welded pipes in Russia. Last year, the company shipped a total of 3.3 million tonnes of hot-rolled steel to the Russian market, about 56% of which went to pipe manufacturers. In the first half of 2019, shipments of metal products from the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works to the pipe industry increased by 28% compared to the same period in the previous year. The total volume of supplies to the enterprises of the industry in the first half of this year reached 1.32 million tons, which is 31.4% of the total volume of shipments to the domestic market. Among the consumers of MMK's products are all the leading companies in the pipe industry in Russia, for most of which Magnitka is one of the main suppliers of metal products.
