Since the beginning of this year, the total volume of deliveries of products of JSC Electrokabel Kolchuginsky Plant (part of the Cable Alliance Holding, which unites the cable assets of UMMC) for the construction of new stations on the Moscow metro was about 250 km. By the end of 2019, metropolitan metro builders will receive more than 200 km of power cables produced by EKZ JSC. We are talking about low and medium voltage cables of the HoldCab trademark with insulation from ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) and a sheath made of fireproof polymer composition.
Both materials form the unique properties of the cable product. EPR provides its high throughput (up to 30% compared to PVC). Translated into the language of cable operators - a higher long-term permissible core heating temperature during operation (plus 90 degrees instead of plus 70.) At the same time, the cross-section of the conductive core, the outer diameter and weight of the cable with EPR insulation are less, and the construction length (the amount of cable wound on one drum) - more. Consequently, the customer saves both on the cost of the product itself and on construction and installation work. EPR also has high explosion safety and resists vibration loads, which is very important for subways.
The HoldCab cable sheath, made of halogen-free polymer composition, ensures its fire safety. In the event of a fire, such a product does not spread flames and does not release into the air substances hazardous to people and equipment.
“For cable products for rooms with a large crowd of people, especially for those located underground, there are increased requirements for security. Our cables are made from modern materials. Thanks to them, in the event of a fire, all life support and warning systems in the metro will continue to work, and there will be no strong smoke in the room, ”said Andrey Khmurovich, Sales Director of KhKA LLC.
