Kolchuginsky Elektrokabel (part of the Cable Alliance Holding, which unites the cable assets of UMMC) in the first quarter of 2019 increased production by 30% compared to the same period last of the year. In total, from January to March of this year, more than 156,000 kilometers of cables and wires were produced.
In the group of power cables for voltages up to 1 kV with copper conductive core, a threefold increase was noted. Power cables of increased fire safety are especially in demand among consumers, including fire-resistant ones, which remain operational under open fire for three hours.
“In 2018, we modernized five lines for the production of low-voltage cables in workshop No. 5. They are superimposed on conductors of insulation made of polymer compositions that do not contain halogens. Finished products are used at critical facilities, facilities with a massive presence of people. They not only do not spread combustion during group laying, but also, due to halogen-free materials, do not emit substances during a fire that poison people and destroy microprocessor equipment, ”stressed Pavel Nikolayev, chief engineer of EKZ JSC.
In addition, in the first quarter, the production of fiber-optic cables (FOC), intended for both overhead and underground installation, almost doubled. In addition, the plant produces fiber-optic cable structures reinforced with aramid threads, which do not allow the cable to stretch during operation.
The output of medium and high voltage power cables has also increased by 30%. This is largely due to the expansion of the range of power cables for large power engineering through the use of new insulating materials.
“The growth in production volumes is primarily due to the fact that the equipment upgraded and purchased last year reached its design capacity. The large-scale modernization carried out at the enterprise in recent years is bearing fruit. In addition, we have increased and will continue to increase the efficiency of employees by implementing measures in the system of lean production, "said Vladimir Ivanov, director of EKZ JSC.
