The future of the industry belongs to young professionals! WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2023

In April, Kazakhstan hosted several regional championships of professional skills WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2023. ESAB company, one of the leaders in the production of equipment and consumables for industrial welding and cutting, together with the strategic partner Welding Company supported participants in the competence of "Welding Technologies" in seven regions of the country: Pavlodar, Almaty, Kokshetau, Astana, Atyrau, Semey and Karaganda.

Kazakhstan joined the WorldSkills international movement in 2014. Today, the Welding Technologies competence is a catalyst for the introduction of advanced solutions in professional educational institutions. The training of specialists according to international standards who have not only a theoretical basis, but also practical skills in working with equipment lays a solid foundation for the development of not only manufacturing companies, but also the industry as a whole.

So, at the regional championships in 2023, the tasks for the participants were

they are as close as possible to the specifics of the work they will do in production. Young specialists demonstrated not only theoretical knowledge of standards and technologies, but also practical skills of working with welding equipment. At each stage, the expert commission evaluated the work of students according to different criteria. These are visual, technical, and mechanical characteristics of welding seams. And during the final module, the contestants cooked a complex metal structure using all types of welding. During the inspection of the final work, the specialists carried out not only visual inspection of the welding seams, but also carefully assessed the tightness of the pipe structure.

For the competition, ESAB provided Rebel ™ EMP 320ic, Caddy ® Tig 2200i AC/DC devices, as well as welding materials, accessories and personal protective equipment that meet the high standards of the championship. In particular, the Rebel ™ EMP 320ic universal welding machine is suitable for intensive work with all types of solid and powder wires and is used in almost all industries from automotive to civil engineering. And thanks to the sMIG ("smart MIG") function, the equipment is constantly adapting to the welding technique and is ideal for both an experienced welder and a young professional who is just starting to work on the equipment.

At the end of the competition, all participants received ESAB souvenirs, and the winners were solemnly presented with Savage A20 welding masks, which they will need during the final stage of WorldSkills Kazakhstan in June. And at the award ceremony in Almaty, a representative of ESAB solemnly presented awards and presented gift certificates from the akimat.

"In recent years, production in Kazakhstan has been developing and modernizing more and more actively, so the training of professional personnel capable of working on high-tech equipment is becoming a top priority for business. For ESAB, as one of the leaders of the welding industry, the support of educational projects is of key importance. Today, the WorldSkills Championship is not just an industry event, but a display of professional requirements for young professionals: what theoretical and practical skills should I have. This year, in addition to welding equipment and consumables, ESAB specialists collected consolidated information on welding technology and prepared visual educational and methodological posters in Russian and Kazakh that participants could use during the competition," said Ekaterina Tatarinova, ESAB Sales Director, Central Asia region.

"Our company annually supports the WorldSkills Kazakhstan championship and provides high-tech ESAB solutions to participants from all regions of the country. For us, as well as for ESAB, it is important to contribute to the formation of qualified personnel and the formation of a production culture in general," added Roman Abishev, Deputy Sales Director of Welding Company.

As part of the WorldSkills project, the regional championship will also be held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, where ESAB will act as a technology partner.

The winners of the regional championships will take part in the republican championship of professional skills WorldSkills Kazakhstan — 2023, which is scheduled to be held in June this year.
