The First International Professional competition in the competence "Welding technologies" according to WorldSkills standards with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has ended in Almaty. From May 26 to May 30, teachers of technical colleges from five Central Asian countries demonstrated their skills. The organizers were the Talap Non-profit Joint Stock Company, the Almaty City Education Department, the Almaty Construction and Technical College and ESAB, an international manufacturer of solutions in the field of welding and cutting metals.

The competition brought together professionals from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The participants demonstrated their skills and ability to work with modern high-tech ESAB equipment. The company provided the contestants with professional Rustler EM 350C PRO SYNERGIC semi-automatic welding machines with PSF 315 welding torches, as well as the necessary consumables: UONI-13/55 electrodes, OK Tigrod 12.64 filler rods, Sv-08G2C 1.0mm 18kg welding wire, FILARC PZ6113 1.2mm 16kg powder wire, and OK Tigrod 4043 2.4x1000mm 2.5k, OK Tigrod 316L 2.4x1000mm 5kg.

The struggle for victory among Kazakhstani masters was so intense that the evaluation system identified three winners at once with a minimum margin of hundredths of a point. They were Rodion Tsaregorodtsev, Gani Kadir and Sergey Gerasimenko. In the international competition, the best results were shown by Lhagvatsamzh Uuganchimeg from Mongolia, Ulugbek Toshboltaev from Uzbekistan and participant from Tajikistan – Rakhmonali Odinaev. The winners were awarded with prizes, and all participants of the competition received memorable gifts from the organizers.

"One of the most important missions of ESAB is to support the development of vocational education in Central Asia through participation in WorldSkills projects and cooperation with technical educational institutions. And the masters' competition is of particular importance. When teachers themselves demonstrate a high level of proficiency in modern technologies, this creates a fundamentally new bar for student preparation. It is such events that increase the prestige of working professions and show young people the prospects for professional growth," said Ekaterina Tatarinova, Director of ESAB Kazakhstan LLP, Head of the ESAB Central Asia region.

The event became part of a large-scale strategy for the development of vocational education initiated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. ESAB supports similar projects in other Central Asian countries.

About the company:

ESAB is one of the world leaders in the production of equipment and consumables for welding and cutting metals. The company manufactures equipment for manual welding and cutting, automated welding and mechanical cutting systems, as well as welding materials
