In early November, the III corporate championship “WorldSkills Kazakhmys - 2023” was held on the basis of the Polytechnic College of the Kazakhmys Corporation and other structural divisions of the Kazakhmys Corporation LLP. This year, on the basis of the installation and procurement site of RSMU Branch of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP - PA "BCM", the championship was held in four competencies: “Welding”, “Electrical installation”, “Plumbing” and “Occupational Safety”.
The competition project was designed for nine hours of work over two days. Its implementation was assessed by expert mentors and independent experts under the supervision of the main experts for each competency. The depth of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, work culture, and ability to use modern technologies were assessed. 46 specialists took part in the competition: 8 students of the Polytechnic College and 38 young employees of enterprises with the age limit of competitors from 16 to 22 years (for the competence “Occupational Safety and Health” - up to 35 years).
The partners and sponsors of the Welding competency were ESAB and its distributor in the region, Welding Company. To hold the competition and equip 12 welding stations, ESAB provided welding equipment: multifunctional machines REBEL™ EMP 320IC, as well as welding materials - UONII 13/55 electrodes, Sv08G2s wire and OK PRO 51S. In addition, the company provided all the necessary accessories and personal protective equipment for the welder.
At the end of the championship, the winners and runners-up were awarded valuable prizes from ESAB and Welding Company. In particular, the winners were presented with high-tech personal protective equipment for welders produced by ESAB, which provides both comfort and high safety when welding.

The contestants competed for the title of best young professional, but we can say with confidence that each of them deserves to win!
