Enterprises that are part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) became winners of the All-Russian mass innovation competition, taking prizes in the categories “Best Company for Mass Involvement,” “Best Company for Mass Productivity,” and “Best Young Innovator.”
Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) took “gold” in the nomination “Best Company for Mass engagement” and “silver” in the “Best Company for Mass Productivity” category. Experts highly appreciated the rationalization activities at the enterprise - in 2023, plant employees submitted more than 8 thousand proposals to improve the technological process, save consumables, improve product quality and increase occupational safety. The number of unique authors of rationalization ideas at ChelPipe increased from 2.3 thousand people in 2022 to 2.7 thousand people in 2023, which indicates the effectiveness of programs to support employee initiatives.
“Best Young Innovators” employees of two TMK enterprises were recognized - Seversky Pipe (STZ) and Taganrog Metallurgical (TAGMET) plants. First place in the nomination was taken by Alexey Pyankov, Deputy Head of Technology at Pipe Rolling Shop No. 1 at STZ. He submitted more than 60 improvement proposals over 13 years of work, the total economic effect from the implementation of initiatives amounted to more than 100 million rubles. Third place was taken by Alexander Sazonenko, Deputy Head of the TAGMET Pipe Rolling Shop. He implemented a number of projects for modernizing the main technological equipment of the workshop; over the year, the division implemented 14 rationalization proposals submitted by him.
TMK operates a multi-stage system for the selection and implementation of rationalization initiatives, as well as for motivating employees to develop them. Proposals are submitted through the digital service “Exchange of Ideas”, and completed projects are included in the best practices database, which allows the exchange of innovative solutions between factories, learn from experience and improve existing developments.
In addition, TMK has been For years, a system has been in place for selecting complex projects to improve business and technological processes within the framework of the Youth Scientific and Practical Conference, the central event of the Horizons corporate forum. Also, the company’s employees have been actively participating in project work to improve the production system using the Lean Six Sigma methodology for more than ten years.

In just 11 months of 2024, more than 68.5 thousand proposals were submitted through the Exchange of Ideas service, which indicates the great interest of employees in solving common corporate problems. We create all the conditions for professional growth and self-realization of colleagues, give them the opportunity to prove themselves, guide and help finalize projects and take part in their implementation,” said TMK Deputy General Director for Production Alexander Maksimov.
All-Russian competition mass innovation started in 2023 to develop and support innovation and innovation activities. In the first year of the competition, TMK enterprises and employees won prizes in the categories “Best Company for the Growth of New Authors,” “Best Company for Mass Productivity,” and “Best Young Innovator.” In 2024, more than 130 organizations, over 11 thousand innovators, and 300 rationalization organizers took part in the competition.
