On December 6, the 10th Republican WorldSkills Kazakhstan 2025 Championship, one of the key events for students of technical and professional colleges in the country, ended in Astana. In 45 competencies reflecting the current demands of the economy and the labor market, the championship brought together over 800 participants from all regions of Kazakhstan.
In the field of Welding Technologies, ESAB, a manufacturer of equipment and consumables for welding and cutting metals, acted as a technology partner. ESAB, together with its strategic distributor partner, WELDING COMPANY, provided the competition with modern equipment, supplies and technical support.
The participants performed tasks on several welding processes using professional equipment. For example, ESAB Rustler EM 350C PRO Synergic semi—automatic machines were used for MIG/MAG welding, and ESAB Rogue ET 230iP AC/DC for argon arc welding. In 2025, the competition tasks were complicated: manual arc welding of stainless steel was added to the program. ESAB provided special OK 61.30P electrodes in vacuum packaging, as well as UONIA 13/55 electrodes, Weld G3Si1 and OK PRO 71 wires, and OK Tigrod rods.
ESAB mentors and college representatives noted the practice-oriented competition program and the convenience of working with the equipment: a clear interface and stable technical support, which helped to build the competitive work as close as possible to the requirements of real production. The work was evaluated in several stages, including instrumental measurements and a detailed analysis of each joint.
According to the results of the competition, Eldar Chapen (Mangystau region) took the first place in the competence of Welding Technologies. Silver medals were awarded to Ilmurat Karim (Almaty) and Anton Luzin (North Kazakhstan region). The bronze medal was won by Shokhruzbek Khaytmatov (Turkestan region). The winners received ESAB Savage A40, A30 and A20 professional welding masks. In addition, the winner will represent Kazakhstan at the international stage of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, which will be held from September 22 to 27, 2026 in Shanghai.
"Such projects are already a tradition for our company. We do not just provide equipment, but form standards for the training of specialists who will enter real enterprises tomorrow. This is how, through practice, technology and partnership, a sustainable industrial future is being built, on which the formation of a production culture and the country's economy depend," she noted.
