TMK spoke about the environmental safety of production at the Ecotechnology Leaders Forum

The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) revealed the volume of capital investments in the implementation of environmental protection projects of enterprises at the II Forum of Leaders of Environmental Technologies, which was held in Moscow. Elena Podgornykh, Head of TMK's Environmental safety department, said that the company had allocated more than 1 billion rubles for these purposes in 2024, which made it possible to reduce emissions of pollutants into water bodies, ensure the rational use of resources, increase their involvement in recycling and improve the environmental efficiency of production as a whole.

At the event, TMK presented its practices on the conservation and protection of water resources and atmospheric air, industrial waste management, and the use of the best available technologies. For more than 20 years, the company has carried out large-scale reconstruction of production facilities at its plants and implemented solutions with high economic and environmental efficiency. As a result, specific emissions of pollutants decreased by 1.5 times, specific energy consumption decreased by 12%, more than 4 million tons of previously accumulated waste were recycled, the share of waste recycling in 2024 was 94%, the volume of wastewater was halved, and the share of recycled water supply increased to 96%.

TMK is currently implementing several major environmental protection projects. In order to conserve water resources, the Pervouralsky Novotrubny Plant (PNTZ) is building a second complex of wastewater treatment plants as part of the development of AQA projects, and the Sinarsky Pipe Plant (SinTZ) is undergoing a comprehensive modernization of water management. Work is underway to install equipment for automatic emission control at the Volzhsky Pipe Plant (VTZ) and Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET), and gas purification systems are being upgraded at the PNTZ and Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe).

The company has also started implementing a project for the construction of an industrial waste landfill at the PNTZ, which will become the second facility of its kind after the successfully operating landfill at the VTZ. In addition to waste management and by-products of production, the company also recultivates lands that were previously used for waste disposal in order to restore ecosystems in the regions of its presence.

"As a socially responsible company, TMK strives to minimize its environmental impact and preserve favorable natural conditions. This approach is reflected in the structure of investment costs, which continuously includes environmental projects — in particular, in 2024, environmental investments in TMK's fixed assets amounted to more than 1 billion rubles. The effectiveness of the measures carried out is confirmed by the receipt of
