The company "Connecting bends of pipelines" (SOT), part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), supplied pipe assemblies for the enterprise for the production of catalysts for synthetic material — polyopheline. The products are made of stainless steel and are designed to transport silica gel, a carrier of chromium catalysts used for the production of individual grades of polyethylene.
Specialists from SOT, the Engineering Center of the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe, a branch of TMK) and TMK-Premium Service participated in the implementation of the project. The welding of the assemblies was carried out using the "blind joint" method — without a gap between the elements and with the formation of a minimum reverse weld roller to ensure the strength of the connection of the parts.
The inner surface of the pipe assemblies has been polished to the maximum, which eliminates the sticking of particles on the walls of the equipment. The products also underwent passivation, the process of forming a protective oxide layer on the metal surface, which increases its corrosion resistance.
