This year, BMZ OJSC, the management company of the BMK holding, plans to increase its presence on the African continent. According to operational data, in January-February 2019, shipments to African countries, which increased several times both in volume and and in monetary terms, exceeded 57 thousand tons, which is about 15% of the total export of the plant.
To consolidate this result, in early March, BMZ held negotiations with a potential consumer from Senegal. During the meeting, the terms and volumes of the first deliveries and the prospects for expanding exports to Niger, Chad, Mali and Mauritania were discussed.
& bsp; & bsp; It is worth noting that from 2016 to 2018 BMZ was already able to significantly strengthen its presence on the African continent. So, in 2016, 89 thousand tons of metal products were shipped to Africa, in 2017 - 209 thousand tons, and in 2018 - 236 thousand tons. New countries also appeared on the list of consumers: Algeria, Cameroon, Mali, Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia. In total, in 2018, BMZ's total African export geography consisted of 14 countries.
& bsp; & bsp; BMZ has been supplying Africa since 1998. The first countries to consume Belarusian metal products were Egypt, Cameroon, Morocco and Tunisia. Initially, the bulk of supplies to Africa were cast billets. At present, given the ambiguous situation on the world steel market, the plant considers this region as an alternative for the supply of construction fittings and low-carbon wire rod.
& bsp; & bsp; According to operational data, in January-February 2019 BMZ exported over 371 thousand tons of metal products to 43 countries of the world.
