The Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (part of the Mechel Group) has expanded its line of structural shapes. In 2018, the production of 17 new types of steel products was mastered at the universal rail and structural mill.
10 new I-beam profile sizes according to Russian and European standards, as well as 5 types of channels were launched. Steel products are used in the construction of floors and columns, in frame and large-panel construction, in mechanical engineering and shipbuilding.
A special-purpose profile Z-310 was produced at the rail and structural mill, from which the center beam is welded - the basis of cars and gondola cars. Compared to 2017, shipments to carriage plants increased by 55%.
Also, the company has certified the production of OP65 type rails, which are used in turnouts. They are supplied to switch factories for further assembly and use in railway track structures. The demand for products is consistently high. Since their development, ChMK has shipped 520 tons of products.
In addition, ChMK received a certificate for the production of railway rails for high-speed lines with a speed of up to 250 km /h. Heat-strengthened rails of the P65 type have been certified. ChMK's rail products are distinguished by high operational properties: wear resistance and strength, which are achieved thanks to the use of an innovative technology of rail hardening in an organic polymer solution, which is unique for Russia.
Shaped steel has been produced since the start of the mill, which was put into operation in 2013. During this time, the plant mastered the production of 56 I-beam profile sizes, 5 types of channels, 3 special-purpose profiles and 5 types of rails.
