At the Uralkabel plant (part of the Cable Alliance Holding, which unites the cable assets of UMMC), a set of drying cabinets necessary for testing materials and samples of cable products was installed. It consists of five existing and four new thermo-units.
“The existing drying ovens were not sufficient to carry out all the necessary tests. As a result, a queue was formed and we had to wait a long time for the results of checking samples to make sure of their quality. To avoid such delays, it was decided to purchase additional drying cabinets and form a single complex. The new equipment has a modern control system and a large capacity, "explained Lyudmila Odueva, head of the quality service of Uralcable JSC.
Drying cabinets allow testing materials for the manufacture of cables and finished products at high temperatures - from 300 ° C up to 500 C °. Experts can evaluate in a short period of time how the sample will behave in real operating conditions. For example, the auto pipes under the hood of a car must withstand a certain temperature for a long time. When tested, they are twisted to simulate the location under the hood. The same is the case with winding wires installed in motors of various equipment. They are additionally immersed in transformer oil or diesel fuel and exposed to high temperatures.
Thermal equipment is involved in experimental work, qualification and periodic tests. Periodic - held once every six months or a year and confirm the compliance of the products with the established requirements. Qualification tests are necessary, for example, when replacing material at the initiative of the manufacturer or at the request of the customer.
“Cable products should serve a long time, maintaining all their operational properties. Our task is to start testing it at the stage of receipt of materials, then there is a thorough operational control, then the finished product is returned to us again. As a result, the customer receives a high-quality product that meets its requirements and the requirements of the standards, ”noted Olga Ivanova, Deputy Director for Quality at Uralkabel.
