Kolchuginsky plant "Elektrokabel" (part of the "Holding Cable Alliance" LLC, which unites the cable assets of UMMC) in 2019 will invest over 30 million rubles in the modernization of the energy sector. The plans include replacement of communications, modernization of heat and power facilities.
“After the merger of EKZ and Kolchugtsvetmet in 2017, the entire energy sector of the metallurgical enterprise was transferred to us. Elektrokabel has no need for that amount of capacity, even taking into account the future development. Therefore, a program was developed for the modernization of the energy complex of the two sites. Its goal is to create a reliable and efficient energy supply scheme, ”said Dmitry Andrianov, chief power engineer of EKZ JSC.
As of today, the main work has been carried out to reconstruct the heat supply system. The ineffective CHP, previously owned by Kolchugtsvetmet, has been decommissioned. Instead, a block-modular boiler house was installed, supplying heat and steam to the consumer goods workshop and a number of non-production facilities.
The modernization program also provides for the replacement of communications, including water supply and sewerage networks. In addition, by the end of 2019, the enterprise will create its own generation source with a total capacity of 3 MW. Two gas-piston electrical installations (GPU) will generate electricity and heat for the own needs of EKZ JSC. This will reduce the cost of energy supply, improve its reliability and reduce dependence on the supplies of Vladimirenergo. Its own power center will be able to cover from 56-73% of the electricity consumption of cable production.
It should be added that in 2018 Elektrokabel supported the construction of an urban modular boiler house that supplies heat to residents of Kolchugino. The company has undertaken the cost of purchasing and laying a gas pipe.
