PJSC Severstal was the first Russian company to request a documented confirmation of the rating of the fundamental (environmental and energy) efficiency of the environmental rating agency ERA. In 2020, ERA has developed a methodology and regulation of a new type of assessments by analogy with credit ratings.
Assessments that objectively reflect a complex set of indicators of environmental and energy efficiency and its dynamics are designed to help shareholders, investors, authorities in preparing corporate or managerial decisions.
In the horizontal rating there are five categories of fundamental efficiency: highest, high, basic, acceptable, low (A +, A, B, C, C–). Everything is determined by the sum of the numerically measured values of efficiency (energy resource, technological and ecosystem), dynamics of efficiency and environmental transparency.
Severstal is implementing a systematic program to reduce environmental impact and reduce energy consumption, and is working to improve transparency and quality of information disclosure in the field of ecology. The environmental rating agency" ERA "in the largest overall A sample of 6,000 enterprises and companies in Russia confirmed the highest efficiency (category A +) for three enterprises: LLC Severstal TPZ-Sheksna, JSC Severstal Kanaty and JSC Severstal Distribution. In addition, category A + was confirmed for Severstal Aviation Enterprise in the Transport industry group.
High fundamental efficiency (category A) in the total sample was confirmed for Severstal-SMC-Vsevolozhsk, Severstal- Vtorchermet and the Sheet Rolling Shop of PAO Severstal, and in industry groups - for the parent company of PAO Severstal (Cherepovets site), AO Olkon, AO NEVA-METALL, Severstal Russian Steel Division and, in general, for the Severstal Group of Companies. The same category was confirmed for OAO Severstal-metiz in the regional group of enterprises in the Central Federal District. Most of Severstal's resource assets have confirmed the base level (category B) of the fundamental (environmental and energy) efficiency of their production.
