MMK confirms the efficiency of its energy management system

During an examination carried out by experts from the certification body TÜV Thüringen e.V. (Germany), no inconsistencies and deviations were found. The successful implementation of the audit program became possible due to the serious preparatory work of the managers and specialists of PJSC MMK, within the framework of which the new Energy Policy of the company was approved. Its strategic goal is to reduce energy costs in the production cost of the plant. PJSC MMK has implemented the requirements of the new standard, including the identification and integration of energy management risks into the business processes of production units. In accordance with the program approved by the top management of PJSC MMK, internal audits of the energy management system were carried out in MMK's subdivisions - a total of 21 audits.

Specialists of the certification body TÜV Thüringen e.V. (Germany) noted that the organization has completely created conditions for the maintenance and effective functioning of the company's energy management system. Among these conditions - special attention to energy conservation issues from the top management of the company, as well as the involvement and high professionalism of the team.

The implementation of projects to improve the energy efficiency of production processes allowed the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works to achieve energy savings in the amount of RUB 124.3 million in 10 months of 2020.

One of the tools to improve the energy efficiency of PJSC MMK »Is an automated energy management platform (IEM), which is an electronic module that systematizes the processes of analyzing energy processes, managing the implementation of energy efficient measures and rationalization proposals. For 10 months of 2020, 687 energy efficient ideas were submitted to the Energy Management Platform (EMP), of which 140 projects were implemented with a planned effect of their implementation in the amount of 74 million rubles.

Among the areas of energy efficiency improvement is the implementation of energy efficient projects baby-capex, the expected economic effect from the implementation of projects in 2020 will amount to 74.2 million rubles. Among the implemented energy-efficient projects with the greatest economic effect can be called the modernization of the flow path of the turbine of the turbine generator No. 2 of the CHPP with the replacement of stages and diaphragms, which brought the company 38.6 million rubles.

In 2020, MMK received the international Energy award Management Insight Awards in the field of energy saving and improving energy efficiency of production in accordance with the international standard ISO 50001. The award was awarded to MMK in the framework of the global international forum organized by the CEM Energy Management Working Group (EMWG) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which accepted participation of experts from 25 countries. The UNIDO Energy Director noted that MMK's experience shows how the energy management system can be successfully integrated into existing business systems to better manage resources, maintain the achieved savings and continuously improve energy performance.

Among the key areas for increasing energy efficiency are improving the control system over the use of energy resources, increasing the efficiency of their use at each workplace, the most complete and efficient use of secondary energy resources, achieving the involvement of each employee in activities to reduce energy costs.
