NLMK Group to open a 3D printing center for the production of spare parts for equipment

Press Releases

Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works signed a contract to equip a new 3D printing center, which will produce spare parts for production equipment. The project will save about 200 million rubles annually on purchases and prompt supply of spare parts for the Lipetsk site and other enterprises of the NLMK Group.

The center's 3D printers will be used to manufacture molds for casting parts using inkjet technology by applying powder and gluing it with a binder. Previously, such forms were made using wooden model equipment. The use of digital modeling will allow you to create shapes of any geometric complexity and check them for defects even before casting, as well as reduce the production time to several hours.

The decision to create the center was preceded by successful trials of 3D printing technology, in particular molds for casting blast tuyeres. At the initial stage, the center will produce about 150 types of parts.
