Mikhailovsky HBI signed with Mikhailovsky GOK im. A.V. Varicheva (part of Metalloinvest) a protocol of intent on the possibility of concluding a contract for the supply of iron ore pellets for the future plant for the production of hot briquetted iron in the city of Zheleznogorsk, Kursk region.
The protocol was signed by the Deputy General Director of USM Pavel Mitrofanov on the part of Mikhailovsky HBI and CEO of MC Metalloinvest Nazim Efendiev on the part of Mikhailovsky GOK.
“We are implementing a comprehensive program for the development of Mikhailovsky GOK, which will radically improve the quality of the iron ore products of the plant, - said the CEO of Metalloinvest Nazim Efendiev. “By the time the new HBI plant is launched in 2024, Mikhailovsky GOK will be able to fully meet its needs for high-quality raw materials.”
The development program of Mikhailovsky GOK provides for the launch of a concentrate re-enrichment unit in 2022, which will produce up to 16.9 million tonnes of high-quality concentrate for subsequent pellet production at the pelletizing plant of MGOK.
In 2020, MGOK mastered the production of premium pellets from the Lebedinsky GOK flotation concentrate. In the future, it is planned to produce up to 3 million DR-grade pellets (pellets for metallization).
Mikhailovsky HBI (55% owned by USM, 45% by Mikhailovsky GOK) is implementing a project to build a HBI plant in Kurskaya region with a production capacity of more than 2 million tons per year. The new production is planned to be launched in the first half of 2024. The volume of investments in the construction of the plant is estimated at more than 40 billion rubles excluding VAT. Zheleznogorsk will create about 400 highly qualified jobs.
