JSC Uralelectromed (an enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC) is implementing a project - construction of a section for processing slag-pit (antimony concentrate) middlings in the chemical and metallurgical shop (CMC).
Currently, the company has completed the first stage of construction of an antimony concentrate processing section with a capacity of 800 tons per year. The new site is located at the site of the processing department of industrial products of the KhMTs.
Technological equipment has been installed at the site: electrolysis baths, terristor converters, stirrers, a suction filter, and tank equipment. An aspiration system, supply ventilation, and a power supply system are installed. The commissioning of the process video surveillance and automation system is underway by the specialists of the electronic systems management of Uralelectromed JSC together with UGMK-Telecom.
According to the head of the technical department of Uralelectromed JSC, Konstantin Timofeev, this project will allow the enterprise to solve several problems ... First, to dispose of wastes (slag) generated during smelting in short-drum furnaces of the Non-Ferrous Metals Production Branch, thereby reducing the harmful impact on the environment. Secondly, the enterprise will be able to produce about 140-150 tons of branded antimony from man-made raw materials after reaching the design capacity and return to circulation a number of other valuable components with an increase in their total extraction into a marketable product.
At the moment, the design work management JSC "Uralelectromed" is designing the second stage of the site with a total design capacity of processing antimony concentrate up to 2000 tons per year.
