At the same time, MMK continues to strengthen its market position and improve customer satisfaction. In July 2020, a comprehensive reconstruction of the hot rolling mill 2500 was completed, which opens up new opportunities for the mill. In particular, the commissioning of a completely renewed mill allows:
· To increase the uniformity of mechanical properties along the entire length of the coil;
· To expand the range of grades (steel for the production of pipes of strength classes K34-K60 to X80 in accordance with the requirements of API 5L);
· Ensure the release of rolled products with a thickness of 1.5 mm;
· Increase the weight of rolls up to 40 tons;
· Ensure high quality of winding of rolls;
· Shipment of hot-rolled coils on a horizontal generatrix to minimize the occurrence of logistic defects.
The new capabilities of the mill are used to develop niche products and expand the product range. Over the past year, the production of a wide range of new products of various grades and sizes has been mastered at the 2500 mill, as well as at the hot rolling mill 2000, also focused on the production of rolled metal for the pipe industry.
To achieve greater customer satisfaction, MMK has recently been actively developing the transportation of rolled metal products in specialized open and closed containers. This type of rolling stock provides additional protection of metal products from mechanical impact and damage during transportation and handling, and in the case of closed containers - from atmospheric precipitation.
In addition, MMK is successfully implementing the strategic initiative “Sales. Just in Time ”, designed to ensure the delivery of products to the client within +/- 3 days from the scheduled date. As part of this initiative, MMK put into commercial operation an automated system for operational scheduling of production (AS OKPP). To assess the effectiveness of the AS of the OKPP, a comprehensive indicator OTIF (on time in full) was introduced. The current maximum value of this indicator was reached in April 2021 and amounted to 74% (against the target level for the current year of 70%).
It should also be noted that through interaction with various cooperators in the regions of PJSC presence MMK is expanding its pipe product lines in the warehouses of its own sales network - OOO MMK Trading House. The sale of shaped and round pipes is carried out from warehouse sites in the Ural, Volga and Central federal districts, it is planned to develop this line of sales in the warehouses of the Siberian and Southern federal districts. The current goal is to reach a sales volume of 10 thousand tons of welded pipes from the warehouses of TD MMK per month.
