PAO Severstal, one of the world's largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has completed the supply of large diameter pipes (LDP) in the amount of 15.8 thousand tons for the implementation of the Arctic LNG 2 project by Novatek with epoxy coating a new type.
LDPs with a diameter of 530 mm and a wall thickness of 16 mm were shipped by the Izhora Pipe Plant (ITZ, part of the Severstal Russian Steel division) in the first half of 2021. The pipes will be used as piles, so it is important that they are resistant to external factors in the Arctic. To meet these requirements, the specialists of the Izhora Pipe Plant have developed a technology for applying a new type of epoxy coating with a thickness of 550 microns. The refusal to apply liquid paint also made it possible to shorten the production time of LDP, pipes with such a coating are immediately ready for shipment and do not require additional packaging.
Severstal builds relationships with customers based on a deep understanding of their needs, information on how to in the future, the products manufactured in the company will be used. This knowledge allows us to offer customer communication solutions based on the production capabilities of all Severstal assets, "said Mikhail Kovalenko, head of sales to fuel and energy companies in the Russian Federation, Directorate for work with energy companies, Severstal.
For the construction of Arctic LNG 2 Severstal also supplies a wide range of products, which includes fittings, hardware and sophisticated unique equipment, replacing imported counterparts. In St. Petersburg, LindeSeverstal, a joint venture with Germany's Lide, is currently producing a spiral-wound heat exchanger (liquefier) for the Arctic LNG2 project. This is the first and only enterprise in Russia for the production of such equipment.
