At the Shadrinsk Automobile Unit Plant (an enterprise of the UMMC machine-building complex), a water treatment complex has been commissioned. This is the final stage of a large-scale program for the modernization of treatment facilities, which makes it possible to return treated water to the production process and almost completely eliminate discharges into the Iset River.
- The modernization program was implemented in several stages, which made it possible to effectively put into operation and establish regimes work of new equipment, - said the technical director of JSC "ShAAZ" Viktor Evstratov. - In 2017, the first stage was launched, which made it possible to return only 10% of wastewater to the technological process. In the summer of 2019, the reconstruction of the treatment facilities continued, we were able to purify and return to production more than half of the waste water. And finally, now at the final stage, we have the opportunity to return water almost in full for the technological needs of the enterprise. The capacity of the post-treatment complex reaches 150 cubic meters of water per hour.
Water is supplied to the treatment facilities of the plant from industrial effluents and storm sewers. Here it settles in special sedimentation tanks for sedimentation of suspended solids. However, after this purification, the water is not yet suitable for reuse in the enterprise. To do this, it must be additionally cleaned of salts, which makes it possible to make a post-treatment complex. The reverse osmosis system lowers the salinity in the water to the required norms, working almost at the molecular level. Filters remove hardness salts, heavy metals, fluorides, nitrates, organic matter, bacteria, viruses. From here, water, purified almost to the level of drinking water, is again supplied to the technological needs of the enterprise.
The system is equipped with software, due to which the purification processes are fully automated. The tasks of the plant's specialists include monitoring the parameters of the equipment operation and its current maintenance.
- The implementation of the program for the modernization of the treatment facilities of SHAAZ JSC has undoubted advantages both from an environmental point of view and from an economic point of view, allowing to reduce the costs of the enterprise for water consumption and payments for wastewater discharges, - notes Viktor Evstratov. - In addition, the return of water to production is expedient from a technological point of view, since the quality of treated water is much higher than the quality of river water used previously.
