VUS insulation (highly reinforced insulation) is a multilayer anti-corrosion protection system designed for the outer surface of steel pipes. It prevents metal from contacting moisture, aggressive soil components, stray currents and mechanical influences, significantly reducing the risk of corrosion and extending the service life of the pipeline.

How does the VUS isolation work?
The VUS coating consists of several protective layers. Depending on the operating requirements, a two-layer or three-layer system is used.
The three-layer structure includes:
- The primer is a 0.06-0.1 mm thick layer that is applied to the prepared pipe surface. It provides a strong adhesion of insulation to metal.
- The adhesive layer is 0.3-0.8 mm thick. Connects the primer to the outer protective shell and prevents the layers from peeling off.
- The outer layer is made of extruded polyethylene up to 3.5 mm thick. Protects the pipe from moisture, mechanical damage, soil exposure and temperature fluctuations.
For less difficult operating conditions, a two-layer VUS insulation is used, which consists of a primer and an outer polyethylene layer.
Where are pipes used in VUS insulation?
Pipes in VUS insulation are used in the construction of gas pipelines, oil pipelines, water pipes, thermal and industrial pipelines. They are used for underground laying of engineering networks, including under roads and railways, as well as at river crossings. VUS insulation is chosen for areas with high groundwater levels and swampy soils.
How is VUS insulation applied?
The application of VUS insulation is carried out in the factory on special equipment. This allows you to get a uniform coating with the desired characteristics.
The main stages of pipe processing:
- Surface cleaning: rust, scale and dirt are removed from the pipe to ensure reliable adhesion of the coating to the metal.
- Heating of the pipe: the prepared surface is heated for high-quality application of protective materials.
