A competent choice of rigging equipment will allow you not only to securely secure the load in a stationary position, but also to safely move it using a load-lifting crane. Correctly selected cargo slings will not cause premature wear of the rigging. They will ensure quick fixation of the load, the correct geometric shape and without additional packaging.
Advantages of textile slings
Unlike a special steel alloy, polymer fibers have a minimal cost. The purchase of rigging accessories made from textiles that match the characteristics is available to both small companies and transport companies with a large cargo turnover. In addition to cost, textile rigging is distinguished by other equally important technical and operational characteristics:
- Relatively low weight of rigging.
- Textiles do not damage relatively fragile loads.
- Can adapt to irregular equipment shapes.
- Has excellent flexibility and strength.
- Insensitive to changes in temperature and humidity.
Important: Due to natural or premature wear, textiles cannot be repaired and need to be completely replaced. It can be disposed of together with conventional polymer materials. You should not use slings with signs of physical damage, as they no longer have their original characteristics.
Steel ropes and chain slings
Ropes are able to resist both static and dynamic loads during operation . But this type of rigging has one significant drawback: the cable does not have sufficient flexibility to solve some individual problems. The chain analogue is especially good in the following cases:
- for fixing and carrying especially heavy loads;
- best resists all types of wear;
- can work in high humidity, salt water;
- the chain does not require any physical or cosmetic care.
Chain slings have a significant cost, but the price is fully recouped over long-term use. If one link is damaged during work, the slings can be repaired in a workshop.
