China's third-generation superconductor quantum computer Benyuan Wukong was put into operation on Saturday by Origin Quantum Computing Technology (Hefei) in Anhui Province in eastern China.

The quantum computer operates on 72 -qubit superconducting quantum microcircuit made in China “Wukong”. According to the researchers, this is the newest and most advanced superconductor quantum computer in China, which is programmable and available for use.

As said by Kong Weicheng, deputy director of the Anhui Engineering Research Center for Quantum Computing, the computer is integrated with a quantum computing control system third generation, which significantly increases the overall efficiency of its operation.

Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Quantum Computing Chips of the Anhui Engineering Research Center for Quantum Computing Jia Zhilong noted that the Wukong chip contains 198 qubits, of which 72 are working and 126 related.

The name "Wukong" comes from the Chinese mythical character Sun Wukong, who was able to take on 72 different forms. This name symbolizes the powerful and versatile capabilities of the new computer.
