January 21, New Delhi. According to the Ministry of Steel Industry of India, production of finished rolled steel in April-December 2018 (9 first months of 2018-19 fiscal year) increased by 4.5 percent to 97.358 million tons.
Steel consumption in India increased by 8.4 percent YoY to 71.862 million tonnes.
At the same time, India continues to be an importer of finished steel, although its foreign purchases during this period decreased by 3.1 percent or to 5.908 million tons. Although Indian exports of all of these products in April-December fell by 38 percent to 4.675 million tons.
