Number of people infected with coronavirus new type in Iran has reached 13 thousand, recorded more than 600 deaths. This was announced on Saturday the representative of the Ministry of health of the Republic. Over the past day in the country was recorded 1365 new infections. Recent data indicate that 55% of deaths over the age of 60, at the same time, about 15% are younger than 40.

Leadership of Iran, one of the countries most affected by the spread Covid-19, recognized that medical institutions can not cope with the pandemic. The authorities, in particular, noted that because of U.S. sanctions in Iran there is a shortage of protective medical masks and gloves, as well as tests for diagnosis of the novel coronavirus. On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a number of world leaders a letter urging them to contribute to the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Tehran to allow the country to effectively deal with the coronavirus.

Earlier Thursday, foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote a letter to the UN Secretary General, antónio Guterres, which stated that the United States should abolish all sanctions against Tehran as they interfere with the suppression of coronavirus.

Meanwhile it became known that the second round of parliamentary elections in Iran, which was scheduled for April 17 postponed indefinitely.
