According to the official version of the company, the largest producer of rolled metal in the European Union will stop the production of steel pipes in Krakow in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) Europe will cease production at its welded pipe plant in Krakow in the first quarter of 2024, the company said in a message to customers.

The company said it is working to minimize any supply disruptions and will source from its other manufacturing units. AMTP produces straight-seam pipes for industrial applications at its plant in Iasi, Romania. The company also has operations in the Czech Republic and France.

ArcelorMittal recently said it would suspend coke oven operations at its Krakow plant due to low demand and the low price differential between coking coal and coke.
