The European Commission has announced that it has approved the takeover of the Romanian company ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi S. by the Ukrainian mining and metallurgical group Metinvest.

The Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Group submitted an application for acquisition in October of this year, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
Lack of competitive risks in the pipe segment
As a result of the deal, Metinvest gains sole control over AMTP Iasi, a Romanian manufacturer of finely welded carbon steel pipes. After examining the combined market presence of the companies in their respective product segments, the Commission concluded that the merger would not significantly affect competition.
