Crude steel production in Italy declined in June after rising in May, but increased in the first half of 2025, the Federacciai industry association said in a statement obtained by Kallanish.
June production decreased by 3.2% year-on-year to just over 1.7 million tons. Nevertheless, the volume of production in the first six months of this year increased by 2.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 11.1 million tons.
"The dynamics of hot-rolled steel production indicates a decline typical for both product families[flats and longs] [in June]," says Federacci.
Production of flat rolled products decreased by 6.6% to 720,000 tons in June, but increased by 7.7% to 4.8 million tons in January-June. Long's production, meanwhile, decreased by 2.3% to 1 million tons in June and increased by 0.4% to 6.4 million tons in the first half of the year.
Before production rebounded this year, Italian production had been declining in recent years, falling by 5% year-on-year in 2024 to 19.9 million tonnes, by 2.5% in 2024.-in 2023 to 21 million tons and by 11.5% compared to the same period last year in 2022 to 21.6 million tons.
