Weltzholz expands production facilities in Brazil

The German company Waelzholz, which manufactures cold rollers, is installing a new four-roll reversible mill and a two-core annealing furnace in a bell at its Brazilian company Waelzholz Brasmetal.

In addition, four more annealing ring furnaces, a slitting line and a packaging line are planned to be installed at the Sao Paulo plant, the parent company's Callanish said. The increase in production capacity will allow for the production of an additional 33,000 tons of cold-rolled steel strip per year.

A four-roll reversing mill and a two-base annealing furnace in the bell are planned to be put into operation by May 2026. These investments alone will increase the production capacity of the Brazilian plant by 11,000 tons per year.

The rolling mill, equipped with a dual drive system, is equipped with a digital drive and control technology. In addition, roll gap monitoring and strip tracking systems have been developed and optimized for rolling profiles of asymmetric thickness, explains Weltsholz.

.

These measures represent the largest one-time investment in the history of Waelzholz Brasmetal, the parent company notes. The company sees them as a strategy to combat tariffs and trade restrictions that are changing the global economic environment. To meet these challenges, the company invests in the relevant economic regions, as this allows it to adapt production and logistics systems to local conditions.
