ArcelorMittal Europe has launched a new review of support functions, which, according to a member of the European Production Council, may cover 5,600 positions, which is about 11% of the company's 48,500 employees in Europe, while information about Luxembourg is still not disclosed.

The European division of ArcelorMittal, headquartered in Luxembourg, one of the world's largest steel and mining groups, has embarked on a new stage of internal performance evaluation, covering support functions such as information technology, logistics and maintenance, as stated by a member of the European Production Council, the program could accommodate up to 5,600 roles in 20 European countries.

The board member added that the initiative was discussed at an extraordinary meeting held remotely last week, and described it as a new stage in the analysis of changes in support functions in the group's European divisions, including potential relocations along with other restructuring options.

It stated that the goal is to support ArcelorMittal Europe's sustainable business model by bringing the company's performance in line with those of other large companies and using talent from around the world, modern processes and advanced IT and artificial intelligence to provide "reliable and high-quality services."
