GMH Gruppe has launched ProMateria, a startup specializing in the production of advanced metal powders and additive technologies, with a special focus on high nitrogen alloy steel (HNS).
The new company combines its own powder production, batch additive manufacturing, and end processing, aiming to bring 3D metal printing to industry for high-performance applications in the aerospace, medical technology, energy, mechanical engineering, and luxury goods industries.
Steel with a high nitrogen content has an excellent combination of corrosion resistance, strength, and biocompatibility, making it suitable for manufacturing complex and safety-critical components. ProMateria produces certified metal powders for both prototyping and mass production, and uses MoldJet technology to produce complex, ready-to-install parts.
Medical grade metal powders are used as alternatives to cobalt and nickel-based alloys, as well as as components for mass production, such as precision-designed golf clubs.
Together with ProMateria GMH, Gruppe continues the transition from traditional steel production to digital, combining advanced materials and additive technologies to expand the scope of steel applications in the future.
