Austrian steel manufacturer Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH (WMT), a subsidiary of the German Wuppermann Group, has announced the official opening of a new pipe plant at its site in Altmunster, Austria.
The new company will expand WMT's production facilities and significantly expand its product range. It will produce complex special profiles with a wall thickness of up to 4 mm, as well as pipes and profiles in a wide range of sizes and strengths. The plant will process steel grades such as DP800, DP980 and 22MnB5 with a tensile strength of up to 1000 MPa.
According to the company, the new plant is equipped with fully automated raw materials and finished products in warehouses, along with highly digital logistics and production processes, ensuring high efficiency. WMT stated that the company also has a rolling mill and an internal pipe stripping unit, which allows it to produce high-quality products with tight tolerances. The company's existing pipe welding line will remain operational and will be moved to a new complex of workshops to increase efficiency.
"These significant investments by the Wuppermann Group have led to the creation of one of the most modern pipe plants in the world. This allows us to remain the leaders in quality for our customers, to produce with maximum efficiency, to take advantage of a very high level of digitalization and automation, and to ensure the safety of European production," said Oliver Rechtsprecher, representative of the Executive Board of Wuppermann AG.
