industry Minister of Italy Stefano Patuelli said Tuesday that the state Agency Invitalia may acquire a stake in Europe's largest steel plant Ilva, while state intervention through the Italian investment Bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) is a bit more complicated from a technical point of view.
Rome and ArcelorMittal are on the verge of a legal battle, because the steel company is trying to evade the agreement in 2018 on purchase of a steel plant in the southern city of Taranto, which has about 8 200 workers in one of the most economically depressed areas of Italy.
the Government is considering to become an investor in Ilva to avoid the consequences of the release of ArcelorMittal's business and uncontrollable closure of the plant.
