In 2024, the countries of the European Union exported cast iron and steel, as well as products from them, worth 78 billion euros, and imported 71 billion euros, the EU statistical Office (Eurostat) said.

Over the past five years (relative to 2019), exports have grown by 12%, imports by 27%. The increase in value terms occurred despite a reduction in physical supply volumes - by 13% and 6%, respectively.

Last year, Turkey was the main buyer of cast iron and steel from the EU, excluding products made from them (2 billion euros), followed by the United States (4 billion euros). This is followed by the United Kingdom (4 billion euros), Switzerland (1 billion euros) and Mexico (7 billion euros).

India and South Korea supplied the most cast iron and steel to the European Union, amounting to 9 billion euros and 6 billion euros respectively. The top five also included Turkey and China (5 billion euros each) and the United Kingdom (2 billion euros). 3R3R314.

Between 2019 and 2024, the EU increased exports of pig iron and steel to Mexico by 51%, to the United States by 51%, while imports from India increased by 82% and from South Korea by 43%.
