ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announced the shutdown of mining and steel production facilities due to disruptions in the provision of logistics services by Ukrzaliznytsia.
This is reported by the press service of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
We are forced to state that the situation is a consequence of Improper planning and distribution of transportation on the part of Ukrzaliznytsia," the message says.
It is also reported that UZ does not deliver to ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih a key component of the iron foundry, without which the company is unable to produce pig iron.
Allegedly, Ukrzaliznytsia also does not provide trains for the shipment of the produced concentrate, which forces the mining department to stop work.
As a result, the Krivoy Rog company stopped one of two blast furnaces, two sintering machines, an ore-enriching factory and the work of the mining department.
"In the event of a further lack of supplies, the company will be forced to suspend the operation of additional production units, including a second blast furnace, other sintering machines and another ore–processing plant," ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reported.
The company said it expects Ukrzaliznytsia to take "urgent action to stabilize supplies and restore predictability to logistics processes."
