Li Yong, Director-General of the United Nations industrial development organization (UNIDO) and Dmitry Pristanskov, state Secretary-Vice-President of "MMC "Norilsk Nickel" has signed the Declaration, which purpose — joint development of projects, including environmentally sound technologies for the metallurgical industry.
"This is an important stage of our partnership with UNIDO," — said Dmitry Pristanskov during the signing ceremony, held during the UNIDO General conference, held in Abu Dhabi (UAE) — "We will work together on a range of projects aimed at reduction of negative impact of production on the environment and sustainable development in the regions of our presence and not only."
"Cooperation with private companies gives us great opportunities. It promotes scientific and technical exchange, and ensure environmental safety of industrial development," said Li, "We are confident that the joint Declaration will have a positive effect on the dissemination of best environmental technologies and practices necessary to address important issues facing the industry."
UNIDO is a specialized UN Agency mandated to promote industrial development in the countries of the world and international industrial cooperation. The priorities of the organization consists of four thematic areas: achieving social welfare, the development of economic competitiveness, protecting the environment, strengthening knowledge and institutions.
