First Deputy Minister of energy and environmental protection Vitaly Shubin, Deputy Minister Stanislav Kovalevsky met with representatives of the trade Union of coal industry workers and labor collectives of miners who protested in Kiev today and demanded to prevent the destruction of the coal industry and ensure the energy security of the country.
During the meeting the sides discussed ways of resolving the problems of the coal industry, which is subsidized, and for many years requires significant financial resources of the state.
Vitaly Shubin assured that the Ministry is working on resolving the issues that have accumulated over the years. But I noticed that it will not be soon: "There is a certain problem solving process and should each question be considered separately. In particular, tomorrow the government will consider the question of payment of wages to miners."
According to him, the Minister has set the task profile Deputy to do Analytics on the mines to determine which ones are promising and which are not: "I Assure You that no decision on closure will not be accepted without prior discussion and solution of the social question."
At the same time, Stanislav Kovalevsky reported that during November - December of this year, reviewed the development programs of production and economic activities of the state mining enterprises in 2019, projects and programmes for 2020 and further perspective development. The Protocol that identifies which mines will be prepared for privatization and which have a prospect of development, attracting investments and implementation of public-private partnerships.
