U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has officially announced the launch of Washington's opt-out from the Paris climate agreement.
"Today, we begin the formal process of withdrawal from the Paris agreement," wrote the Secretary of state on Twitter.
"the US is proud to lead the world in terms of any emissions", he said.
that the US is not going to comply with the provisions of this agreement, the President, Donald trump declared on 1 June 2017. He noted that this step is done in the interest of American workers and companies working in the field of mining.
Recall that the Paris agreement obliges the US by 2025 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28 percent compared to 2005 levels. Under the agreement, to officially withdraw from it it was possible only on 4 November this year.
