Next year, AvtoVAZ plans to produce at least 400,000 cars, said the president of the automobile company, Maxim Sokolov, during a meeting with the governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov.
According to Sokolov, since the beginning of summer, more than 7,000 cars have rolled off the assembly line of AvtoVAZ, and it is planned to increase production to 10,000 units in July.
Rosstat reported at the end of June that only 3.7 thousand cars were produced in the Russian Federation in May this year (-97% y/y and -81.3% compared to April this year). Thus, based on the words of Sokolov, due to the restarted assembly of Lada Granta in a simplified version, twice as many cars were produced at AvtoVAZ in June than in May in the whole country.
“June was a turning point for us. We resumed the work of the conveyor and started the production of the car Lada Granta Classic'22. Taking into account the accelerated localization of suppliers of auto components, we expect that gradually, step by step, certain modifications will return to the market,” Sokolov said.
Today, the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti is partially idle: of the three lines of a single car assembly plant, only the line for assembling simplified versions of Granta has been launched. Two other lines are still idle: B0, which produced Lada Largus and Lada Xray, Renault Logan and Renault Sandero; and Niva, which they want to launch in July due to the assembly of Lada Niva Legend, and on which it is planned to restore the assembly of Lada Niva Travel in August.
From June 6 and, according to the plan, until September 4, the enterprise operates in a reduced four-day mode of operation. Vesta production in Izhevsk has not been restarted yet.
According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), sales of AvtoVAZ in the Russian Federation in May collapsed by 6.4 times (by 84.3%) compared to the same period in 2021, to 6,012 units, in 5 months - in 2.4 times (by 58%), up to 67.23 thousand units. The company's market share in May amounted to 24.8% (-1.2 p.p.), for 5 months - 21.1% (-3 p.p.)
The shareholders of AvtoVAZ after Renault left the Russian Federation are Rostec (32.3%) and FSUE NAMI (67.7%), which control the company through LLC Lada Auto Holding.
