At the site of the dam break in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, EMERCOM employees found a metal safe, which contained nine flasks with intact seals, presumably with gold, as well as 14 sealed bags with concentrate for secondary processing. As told in the RF IC, the gold was seized and included in the materials of the criminal case.
"In the near future, the investigation will go to court with a motion to seize gold in order to reimburse possible claims from the victims," the press service of the Investigative Committee reported.
According to sources in law enforcement agencies, the weight of gold is 18 kilograms.
The dam broke on the night of October 19. Streams of mud and stones demolished two temporary dormitories of animal diggers. At least 17 people died. The fate of five more workers is still unknown.
According to the investigation, the company "Sisim ", part of the "Sibzoloto " holding, erected dams without any permits. According to the investigators, the head of the site was aware of the danger of building a workers' settlement in the flood zone. He and two other suspects - the general director of the artel and the site foreman - were arrested.
According to the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss, the cause of the dam break could be the failure to comply with the technologies during its construction or rain.
