NUST MISIS specialists have developed a material with the addition of calcium and titanium, which surpasses traditional aluminum-silicon alloys in terms of impact and thermal loads. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science.

The project leader, Professor Nikolay Belov, explained that a unique microstructure is formed during solidification: solid particles are evenly distributed in a plastic aluminum matrix. Optimal properties are achieved with a titanium content of about 0.5%. University Rector Alevtina Chernikova added that the alloy combines excellent casting properties with high ductility, which is critically important for the production of complex parts. The development paves the way for the creation of lightweight and durable components for a new generation of vehicles.
