Two American business Association has warned key Senate Committee from the tightening of sanctions against Russia, writes Bloomberg. They point out that sanctions would hurt American businesses and hurt the promotion of the interests of the state.
the U.S. chamber of Commerce and the American petroleum Institute wrote to the Committee on international relations of the letters, which urged senators to be careful to introduce sanctions against other States, the Agency reports.
the Committee is preparing to consider a bill DASKA — Defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act ("protection Of U.S. security from the aggression of the Kremlin"). Presenting the initiative in August 2019, Senator Lindsey Graham called it "a sanctions bill from hell", pointing to strict provisions, including restrictions on the sovereign debt of Russia. Revised version of a bill he introduced earlier this year.
"Sanctions are used as a blunt instrument, when circumstances require the use of a scalpel, wrote the chamber of Commerce in the report that is referenced in an address to the senators. — At times the United States used large-scale sanctions, not paying attention to the degree of their effectiveness." The organization asked the Committee to "review the legislation and even more to perfect it" to avoid harm to U.S. businesses and their competitiveness.
the American petroleum Institute went further and expressed the hope that the senators voted against the bill. "Many American and Western companies are afraid that they will suffer unintended harm due to excessive international sanctions, alleged this bill," wrote the Director of the organization relations with the Federal authorities Chris Kelly. He stressed that "the sanctions proposed may interfere with activities of energy companies at the international level".
