Pig iron production
The World Steel Association Worldsteel reports that in January-September 2021, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world produced 1,091.09 million tons of pig iron, which is 3.86% more than in January-September last year.
The first place belongs to the People's Republic of China, whose metallurgists smelted 671.07 million tons of pig iron in January-September 2021, which is 1.29% less than in the same period in 2020. The share of Chinese pig iron in world production for 9 months of this year is 61.5%.
Ukraine produced 16.15 million tons of pig iron in the reporting period, which is 6.5% higher compared to January-September 2020, and ranks 10th among 38 countries that produce pig iron.
Steel production
World steel production in 9 months of 2021 amounted to 1,461.23 million tons, which is 7.84% more than in 9 months of 2020.
The leader in steel production is also the People's Republic of China, which smelted 805.89 million tons, which is 2.02% more than in January-September 2020. China's share in world steel production is 55.2%.
Ukraine produced 16.29 million tons of steel in January-September 2021, which is 6.3% higher compared to the corresponding period of 2020, and ranks 14th among 64 steel-producing countries.
