The case of ecocide at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was reclassified to a lighter article

The case under Article 441 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "Ecocide" against the largest metallurgical enterprise of Ukraine ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was reclassified under Article 241 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Pollution or other change in the natural properties of atmospheric air by substances harmful to life, human health or the environment, waste or other materials of industrial or other production due to violation of special rules, if this created a danger to life, health of people or the environment). About this in interview to the First Krivoy Rog Artem Filipyev, chief legal adviser of the enterprise, told the TV channel.

Now the case is in court. Artem Filpiev is sure that the enterprise will be able to win the court case, and if not, then in the worst case, the fine will not exceed the amount of the fine for administrative violations.

Recall that in July 2019 the SBU opened a case against ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih under Article 441 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — Ecocide. Then the law enforcement officers conducted searches, during which they discovered at the enterprise a probable excess of the level of radiation safety.
