Ukraine and the European Union have stepped up the process of preparing for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA), which is known as "industrial visa-free travel". This was announced on Thursday by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Economy noted that on April 27, Deputy Head of the Department Oleksandr Hryban met with Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Remy Duflo, during which they discussed further steps to sign the ACAA.
The Ministry of Economy also reported that Ukraine took into account the recommendations of European experts presented in the reports on the results of the first phase of the EU special mission, within which a preliminary assessment was made of the state of adaptation of the horizontal and vertical legislation of Ukraine's quality infrastructure to the EU legislation.
Kyiv and Brussels also agreed to make every effort to expedite further assessment missions using flexible online and offline approaches.
Commenting on the progress made, A. Hryban noted that the implementation of the ACAA will contribute to the introduction of a new model of economic development of Ukraine, increase the competitiveness of the country's industrial products and obtain new opportunities for attracting investments.
EU membership is one of Ukraine's foreign policy priorities. In February 2019, this goal was enshrined by the Parliament in the Constitution of the country.
On September 1, 2017, the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union came into full force. This document provides for the possibility of signing ACAA.
