The share of Russian electricity in the total volume of imports to Ukraine is 22.7%, according to the data of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Andriy Gerus, which he posted on my Facebook page .
He clarified that the import of electricity from the Russian Federation is subject to a 2% duty.
“I think if a Ukrainian non-monoplastic company lowers prices by another 5-10 kopecks, then all electricity imports will stop as unprofitable,” Gerus predicts.
Import supplies of electric energy from Russia began on October 1, having almost doubled to 4,480,000 kWh, as of October 15, against 2,400,000 kWh at the beginning of the month.
On September 18, the Verkhovna Rada, at the suggestion of the chairman of the Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Services, Andriy Gerus, amended the law of Ukraine "On the Electricity Market", which allowed the import of electricity from Russia and Belarus to the UES of Ukraine on the terms of bilateral contracts.
