18 September 2019, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the amendment of the Deputy from "public Servants" Andrew Gerus, which had allowed the import of electricity from Russia and Belarus in the IPS of Ukraine on the basis of bilateral contracts. The import of electricity from Russia to the market "day ahead" was allowed before, but had not been implemented. The first commercial delivery of electricity from Russia in the IPS of Ukraine began from the beginning of October 2019.
4 Dec 2019р the Parliament amended the law "On electricity market", which was banned the import of electricity according to bilateral treaties with Russia, but the door was left open of import for selling electricity in the market "for days forward". Thus, the possibility of importing Russian electricity remains.
