Monday, July 20, metallurgical plant "ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih" was attended by Deputy Minister of environment protection and natural resources of Ukraine on the issues of digital development, digital transformation and digitization Ruslan Sagittarius.
During his working visit to Kryvyi Rih Ruslan Strelets, together with the Deputy Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration Maksym Skrypnyk and Chairman of the state ecological Inspectorate Andrey Malevany visited two production facilities of the enterprise, which riveted public attention - agglomeration factory of metallurgy and coke production. Guests toured the new coke oven battery Nos. 5, 6 with the installation of dust-free coke, which provided the emission reductions of more than 50% in the production of coke. In addition, the battery was implemented the automated system for environmental monitoring.

To do this we need to see and evaluate the existing technological solutions, and to negotiate the transfer of the data directly to the Ministry. We are required to promptly inform the public about the state of atmospheric air", - said Ruslan Sagittarius.
the Deputy Minister and representatives of the regional administration met with the General Director "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" Mauro Longobardi. He spoke about the renewed sustainable development strategy, which was adopted earlier this year and includes three main areas: environmental protection, industrial safety and social partnership with local authorities, territorial communities. Guests learned more about investments in the enterprise development and environmental projects, reduction in emissions since the arrival of the new owner and the next steps for modernisation.
Mauro Longobardo, CEO of "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih":
- In the next 3-4 years we are going to allocate $ 700 million to implement large investment projects, each of which has an environmental component and allows you to phase out obsolete technologies. This year we finally put out of operation open-hearth shop, as well as the first phase of blooming. We will continue to fulfill its promises in the future - install a new system of gas purification in the Converter plant fully modernizing blast furnace No. 9, complete the modernization of the sintering plant No. 2 and will build a modern pelletizing plant, which will close the two sintering and decommissioned two coke batteries.
However, it should be noted that these production areas is a traditional place of work for many of our employees and contractors. The construction of new units involves the creation of additional jobs and alternative for workers. At the same time, premature closure of existing facilities carries the risk of higher unemployment in the city. The company needed time to effectively plan to not leave these people without support in the current crisis period. "ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog", is still ready to cooperate with the state authorities, and we welcome an open dialogue.
